Faro & Kestrel build perhaps three thousand instruments a year and their customers are, by profession, people who own magnifiers and know how to use them. That let us specify differently from the usual consumer label: microtext is a primary feature here, not a hidden one, and the company publishes the fact that it is there.
The label carries a guilloche rosette whose ratios are unique to the firm, a latent image of the house mark, and microtext along the inner border reciting the instrument class. A forensic marker in the ink supports the company’s own disputes.
The argument for openness
A brand-protection feature that nobody knows about protects nothing. Faro & Kestrel tell their customers exactly what to look for and at what magnification, which converts a security feature into a piece of after-sales confidence — and, incidentally, makes the label something owners enjoy examining.
